Itinerary
Day 1 – Little Rock, AR
Travel to Little Rock, AR. Check into your hotel for a three night stay. Dinner tonight will be at a local restaurant. (D)
Day 2 – Hot Springs, AR – Hot Springs Mountain Tower – Horse Racing at Oaklawn Park – Garvan Woodland Garden
Travel to Hot Springs, AR. Meet your guide for a tour of this historic city, also known as America’s First Resort. See downtown site that include classic hotels, Victorian architecture, world-class art studios, Hot Springs restaurants, nightclubs and famed Bathhouse Row. Hot Springs, AR is also the proud hometown of our nation’s 42nd president, former President Bill Clinton. Hot Springs is also the first federally protected area in the nation’s history, featuring amazing 147° thermal water, rich history and beautiful architecture.
Visit Hot Springs Mountain Tower and see spectacular views of the city, mountains, forests and lakes that surround Hot Springs 40 miles in all directions.
Get ready for an afternoon of racing! We will have a wonderful lunch and enjoy some of the best thoroughbred horse racing at Oaklawn Park. (Oaklawn racing season is December to May – Thursday, Friday, Saturday. Simulcast races rest of the year).
Next, tour Garvan Woodland Gardens, on the campus of the University of Arkansas. This 210 acre botanical garden features springs, streams, waterfalls, and an impressive collections of flowers. Return to Little Rock. Dinner will be on own. (B,L)
Day 3 – Little Rock City Tour – Clinton Presidential Library – Murry’s Dinner Playhouse
Morning tour of Little Rock. Our guide will help us re-live the first days of Arkansas’ statehood at the oldest surviving Capitol building west of the Mississippi. Take a picturesque drive through the historic Quapaw Quarter and view the Villa Marre, featured in the successful sitcom “Designing Women.”
Visit historic Central High School or journey back in time to see how Arkansas’ first settlers tamed the new wilderness and various Civil War sites.
Next, visit the Clinton Presidential Library & Museum. The archival and museum holdings at the Clinton Presidential Library and Museum are the largest within the Presidential Library system. Included in these collections are approximately 76.8 million pages of paper documents, 1.85 million photographs and over 84,600 museum artifacts.
The afternoon will be free for shopping at the River Market District. There are many quaint specialty shops in the River Market District. Shops that specialize in art, clothing, instruments and almost everything else line the streets.
Tonight, enjoy a show at Murry’s Dinner Playhouse, in Little Rock. It is a unique facility that combines a great buffet dinner with professional theatre. The live stage productions feature top-notch Broadway musicals and comedies the whole family can enjoy. Scheduled Show: TBA (B,D)
