Itinerary

Day 1 – Miami – Free Evening South Beach

Arrive today in Miami, FL and check into your hotel for a three-night stay.  Enjoy a free evening and dinner on own in South Beach.  Check out Lincoln Road, a mile-long pedestrian thoroughfare boasting brand-name stores and independent boutiques, an array of restaurants, street entertainment and superb people-watching.

Day 2 – Miami – Little Havana Art Tour – Biscayne Bay and Millionaire’s Row Cruise – Free Afternoon or Beach Time – Dinner at Havana 1957

After breakfast this morning, you will meet a local guide for a Little Havana Art Tour. Little Havana boasts a thriving arts and culture scene with a distinctly Cuban flair. The streets are colorful with both painted and mosaic tile murals. They depict symbols of Cuba, like tropical fruit, musical instruments, dominos, and cigars, while others illustrate Cuban legends, from poet and revolutionary Jose Marti to the singer Celia Cruz who once performed in the neighborhood.

After some free time and lunch on own, you enjoy a sightseeing cruise of Biscayne Bay. You will have the best views of the Downtown Miami skyline, the Port of Miami, Fisher Island, Miami Beach and Millionaire’s Row – the homes of the rich and famous.

The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore Miami on your own or just relax on the beach.

Following time to freshen up, dinner is included this evening at Havana 1957.  Offering an authentic taste of Cuba, Havana 1957 is a new breed of restaurant in Miami, Florida offering guests the chance to spend un dia en la Habana and to experience the glory and glamour of old Cuba during 1950s. Day 3 – Coral Castle Museum – Free Time in Historic Downtown Homestead – Fruit & Spice Park Tram Tour – Everglades Airboat Tour

Today, you explore the Greater Miami area starting with a visit to the Coral Castle Museum in Homestead. Ed Leedskalnin has baffled scientists, engineers, and scholars since 1923. Coral Castle was built by Ed, in secret, at night, in the name of love. He weighed 100 pounds and stood just over 5 feet tall. Some blocks of coral weigh more than the largest blocks from the great pyramids of Egypt. Ed sculpted coral stone into a nine-ton gate, a 28-ton obelisk and a sun dial that shows both the time and season. Referred to as a Modern Megalith, Coral Castle is compared to the ancient megalith’s of the Egyptian pyramids, Stonehenge, and is considered by many to be one of the Wonders of the World.

Next, enjoy some free time in Historic Downtown Homestead for lunch on own shopping.  The restaurants in Historic Downtown Homestead offer more than a memorable meal. This quaint area is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, thanks to its connection to the Florida East Coast Railway and the many architectural styles represented here, including Art Deco and Mission Revival. Many of the restaurants feature authentic cuisines from around the world.

This afternoon features the Fruit & Spice Park, a unique destination dedicated to cultivating tropical fruit trees in a lush, accessible and interactive environment. Take the tram tour around the Park which is a 37-acre subtropical paradise nestled in the heart of the historic Redland community. Surrounded by thousands of acres of tropical agriculture, the Park is a jewel in South Florida’s agricultural community. More than 500 varieties of exotic fruits, herbs, spices and nuts from around the world; 180 varieties of mangos; 70 varieties of bamboo; 40 varieties of bananas; 15 varieties of jackfruit trees and numerous other exotic edibles are grown and maintained here.

Explore the park by winding your way along pathways and boardwalks beneath trees blossoming with avocado, mangos, sapodillas, papaya, lemons, limes, lychee, coconuts and so much more. While you can’t pick the fruit from the trees, you are encouraged to forage along the ground for fallen fruit that you can sink your teeth into right then and there.

Ending the afternoon is an Everglades National Park airboat ride! Explore nature’s River of Grass while an experienced tour guide describes the wonders of this unique ecosystem and the native and exotic wildlife that inhabit it. Tours include the world-famous airboat ride, alligator wildlife show, and walking trails with crocodilian exhibits. You will learn the difference between alligators and crocodiles here.

Returning to Miami, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. (B,D)

**Optional 4th Day Miami

Groups who wish, can add an optional 4^th day in Miami.  This can be a free day to explore Miami on your own or just relax on the beach.  Attractions can also be added like Vizcaya Museum & Gardens, Jungle Island, an evening of local theater, or whatever else you would like to include.

Day 4 – Depart for Home

After breakfast, depart for home. (B)
